Welcomed by more Autumnal Sunshine

Another lovely early Autumn morning saw Andy joined by Andrea Woolcott, Mike Castelete and Jon Thorne at Pipewell for the steady ride around the rolling roads of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. The roads were busy early on, probably due to the extra traffic that the reopening of schools creates but they quietened down as the ride progressed.

The temperature rising

One of the challenges of these rides is to keep in the zone two HR range and with the temperature rising as the ride went on and the route having a few sharper rises every now and then we all went very gently into our zone 3’s from time to time. That said we just regrouped at after any rise and carried on at our steady pace.

Enjoying the miles

Just before the end of the original route 3 of us decided to carry on for a little longer as we were enjoying ourselves so much. We all rode with Jon back to Barton Seagrave with me enjoying for the first time the fast, wind assisted road between Orlingbury and Isham before carrying on over to Grafton Underwood, Geddington, Rushton and home.

Help when needed

Just outside Grafton we came to the aid of a fellow cyclist who had pulled a spoke out of his front wheel and rode with him to make sure he got back back home without any more issues.

Overall it was a fabulous ride.

Next week

Next week’s ride will be back to Wednesday and the route will be published later.
