Time Keeper: Jon Thorne

Marshalls: Mick Wood, Chris Duckworth and Martin Keable (+1)

A big thanks to them, as without them the event would not be able to go ahead.

This sporting TT course was extra challenging on this humid and muggy evening

A clear blue sky, dusty dry road, combining in fields unknown to the riders of KCC as we usually visit this course in April, when it’s bleak, wet and cold. We had the threat of tractors and combine equipment hindering riders but we had no reports of such so the only obstacle was the humidity.

Ongoing covid-19 measures meant no pusher-off, and I think I’m the only rider that hasn’t mastered the take off and smooth clip in… so Jon advises me. So after the initial fumble, apparently only by me! Tonights riders had to deal with a slight moderate south westerly breeze, that didn’t seem to hinder nor help… if there was any benefit, it would of been on the first section from Grafton to the A6116, and a cross breeze on the climb up the A6116 up to Brigstock. I personally was struggling with the air and heat and took little notice of the breeze!

Ladies were out again in force, and it was great to see Andrea Woolcott racing, especially after being on Andy’s Zone 2 club ride yesterday doing 85 miles! Well dones Andrea and we look forward to seeing more of you.

Super times from the riders, the fastest KCC rider was Eddie Smith with a super impressive 31:56, unrivalled by the rest of the field, with second Lindsey Smith (RB) 34:30, third Darren Gillings 35:05.

Ladies results, Sue Rust 35:56 first, with Lindsay Scott 36:15 securing second with a solid strong ride and a PB taking 28 seconds off previous time and Amy Bird taking third 36:50, again, another PB taking a whopping 02:52 off her previous time, nearly 3 minutes! Well done Amy and Lindsay.

Road bike category super solid rides by Lindsey Smith 34:30 taking first pipping Gary Carter 35:16 with a PB taking 02:12 off his previous time, well done Gary that’s a huge slice, and, taking third Andrea Woolcott 36:39 with a brilliant ride.

PB’s on the night we also have Maria Gent 36:55 who just got pipped for third place, also taking off 30 seconds her previous best here.

We also welcomed three guest riders, Warren Drew (RaphaCC) completing the course in 33:00 being second overall and first of the guests, just beating Phil Wilkinson (RFW) 33:12, third overall and second of the guests, with an impressive time on his road bike. Taking third Simon Fitzhugh (45RC) 36:14. Well done guys and thank you for joing us.

I must say, it’s really great to have five ladies riding and see a mixed field of riders, TT set ups and road bike setups, and new comers to the discipline enjoying the atmosphere, race and banter.

Well done everyone.

Tony Hutton was present taking photographs on the Brigstock hills to Grafton, so hopefully we’ll get to see some super shots from him soon, meanwhile for your amusement here’s the riders at the end, and not a bead of persperation off Andrea! Here’s also the image of the provisional results on the night. I hope you all enjoyed it.
