Chippenham & District Wheelers

  • Date/Time: 01-May-21 09:00:00
  • Distance: 10 Miles
  • Course: U41

Eddie Smith hunted out a flat profiled course, the U41 and competed on it last weekend, held by Chippenham & District Wheelers, he achieved a mid field position being 47th overall with a time of 24:42, 24.291 mph. The race was witness to two course records, Jo Buckland (Fulfil The Potential Racing) 23:58 taking the ladies record set by Sarah Gunn in 2018, and, Max Stedman (HuntBikeWheels.com) sliced 16 seconds off the previous record with 20:25.

Ed describes the event: “The course started on a layby near Cotswold Water Park, it was a cold chill and I was not the only one to say it and feeling the shivers.

“The race started well smooth roads and nice bends no gravel👌, then there was 3 roundabouts to go over 2 double ones at then a single on the turnaround. It went through a traffic calming part that was so ruff you was better riding in the middle of the road, on the return I couldn’t see the the finish flag, some one had parked in front of it, which didn’t hinder my effort.

“My conclusion is its a fast course even with the ruff parts, and the traffic wasn’t to busy and gave no trouble to the riders.

“would I go back? Yes.”
