It’s starting to feel like summer, even though there was a bit of blustery breeze on Sunday 13th June. Heading south from Sainsbury’s through Pytchley, Andrea Wollcott, Darren Gillings, David Robinson, Lucas, Jake Bird, Steve Wong and Andy Parker picked up two more riders in Orlingbury: Steve Webster and Haythem Rashed.

Sun soaked roads and views

The ride headed south through Overstone and then West through Moulton before taking on the Chapel Brampton hill and the ride up towards Harlestone. Passing the back of the Althorp estate to Brington, the sun shone and showed off the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.

The climbs and the climb!

Whilst always undulating, we headed into longer, steeper climbs up to East Haddon then Coton and Holcot before taking on the Women’s Tour hill points section of Station Road into Brixworth for coffee and cakes at the Workhouse.

Well paced

Whilst we broke up a bit towards the end of the ride the pace stayed strong, clocking up over 18 miles an hour and over a 1,000 metres of climbing.

Feeling more like the summer the group ate up the miles with a satisfying 18 mph+ average on a route with over 1,000 metres of climbing.
