KCC Sunday Club Ride
KCC Sunday Social Club Ride, a social gathering of all abilities, to meet and cycle together.
All abilities are catered for, we currently have riders who are riding at 13-14mph average up to 16-18+ mph average. We split into groups at the start point, depending on ability. Each group stays together.
You don’t need to be a member of Kettering Cycling Club to join a social ride – all are welcome – but over time we would encourage regular attendees to join, especially if you’re not already a member of a cycling club. Please be aware that severe weather conditions may result in cancelling the ride at short notice – please keep an eye on this page for any changes.
Route
Details will be posted here a few days before the ride – please watch this space. The distance is typically 40-50 miles, although shorter distances may be available.
Café stop
We plan routes with a café stop in mind at approximately half way round the route – for coffee, tea or whatever your tipple is, along with cake… and then return back to Kettering.
Venue
Starting point at Sainsbury’s bus stop on Rockingham road at 9.00 am and we will be out for about 4 hours.
Other points
We prioritise riding safely.
This is a social ride and we enjoy a catchup and natter – although the faster group can push on at times. But it’s not an ‘eyeballs out’ training ride or interval session. Where appropriate and road conditions allow, we may ride in pairs and take turns on the front, but if you want to stay further back in the group and save your energy, that is absolutely fine. If you’re new to group riding, please say so and we are very happy to explain more and support you during the ride. We don’t drop riders from the group, although may for example split on hills, and pause to re-group at various points. We wait if you puncture or have a mechanical issue.
Many riders, living in villages in and around Kettering choose to peel off the route on the way back to Kettering and make their way home. If you do this, please let the group know so we are not waiting for you or think you have a puncture or got lost.
If you are a club member, please remember to wear your club jersey.
