KCC Saturday Club Ride
KCC Saturday Social Club Ride
Most Saturdays from spring to autumn we have a faster club ride for experienced riders – aiming for a pace of around 18 to 20 mph (depending on terrain and conditions).
You don’t need to be a member of Kettering Cycling Club to join a social ride – all are welcome – but over time we would encourage regular attendees to join, especially if you’re not already a member of a cycling club. Please be aware that severe weather conditions may result in cancelling the ride at short notice – please keep an eye on this page for any changes.
Route
Out to the Welland Valley and the Mint & Ginger Cafe (Tur Langton), via the Neville Holt climb: weather showing a tailwind home and with the hills stacked in the first half, should be a quick return. 47 miles / 76 km. https://www.strava.com/routes/3489641118367070700
Café stop
Café stop at Mint & Ginger Cafe (Tur Langton) … and then return back to Kettering.
Time and Venue
Start at 9am; meet near the Grafton Underwood / Cranford crossroads – in the lay-by on the Grafton side.
Other points
We prioritise riding safely.
As noted above, this is a faster group, often riding in a paceline or (where conditions allow) in pairs and taking turns on the front. But if you want to stay further back in the group and save your energy, that is absolutely fine.
Riders are not dropped intentionally – the aim is to stay together, sometimes regrouping at junctions. But beware, very occasionally it may not be noticed! Please communicate well during the ride and have the route just in case.
Many riders live in villages in and around Kettering and choose to peel off the route on the way back to Kettering and make their way home. If you do this, please let the group know so we are not waiting for you or think you have a puncture or got lost.
If you are a club member, please remember to wear your club jersey.
