Stu Walters is competing in the UCI 2021 World Masters Cyclo-Cross Championships and this is a reproduction of the rider profile that was published earlier this month.

It reads:

A great rider story 🙂

I am Stuart Walters and 81 years of age I will probably be the oldest rider competing during the weekend.

I have raced every year since I was a teenager at 16 (apart from covid year). I started on the track and have ridden road races cyclocross and a few time trials ,well over 2,000 in total.

I ride for Kettering CC and am a regular Eastern League rider. And was the 75+ National Champion under LVRC rules.

This is a real big event for me, if I can get on that start line ,race flat out all the way, regardless of my placing it will be a celebration.

Also it will be a training achievement, as around this time last year, I was being wheeled around hospital in a wheelchair (I got mugged) but thanks to family, friends and teammates I am back.

As a full time racecourse bookmaker and I would not have laid odds that I could even get this far.

Just a note of thanks to all the hard work you folk are doing to make this happen. I feel great, fully fit and ready to race.

Stuart.

He only just goes and does it…

On the 3rd December, Stu rode to a 2nd place in his age category (main image above), what a fantastic achievement.

Well done Stu.
