Time Keeper: Jamie Stockham

Marshals: Charlie Stockham (also a mean tea and bacon sandwich provider)

A big thanks to them, as without them the event would not be able to go ahead.

The KCC 50m Championship Trophy

6 laps of the N7/10 A45 Dual Carriageway loop from Earls Barton slip road eastbound to Great Donnington exit, where you go over the A45 and re-enter the A45 westbound up to the Billing exit, climb up to the round about and then re-enter the A45 eastbound, passing the Earls Barton exit until you’ve completed 6 laps, then on your last lap, take the Earls Barton exit eastbound, to the finish at the roundabout.

What a superb morning to be racing, starting off with a cool breeze as the first rider off at 6:31am. It wasn’t too long before the sun was in full strength and it was warming up… bonus was that the low sun as the race acted out got higher in the sky, enabling better visibility.

A really big thank you to Jamie for arranging the new sign on HQ, the primary school car park and for providing refreshments at the end of the race of  teas or coffee or water and bacon sandwiches.

The main and points qualifying event was the 50m distance, however the event suits the 25m distance as well, as the start and finish is the same, and riders are given the opportunity to race a 25m distance. This proved popular as half of the field rode the 25m distance.

The results

The 50m KCC Championship Trophy

A hardy six riders signed up for the Champ race, sadly Stu Plows (OVC) on his road bike, who’s been suffering from a bad back resorted to the 25m distance as his back started to hurt, well done Stu, you were going so well up to that point.

Taking the trophy, by just 14 seconds, the first time Sue has beaten Noel over this distance this year, with a time of 02:08:38, Noel being 02:08:52. How close was that!

Bethany, came across the line with a time of 02:09:56, taking third place and it’s the first time Bethany  has been under 02:10:00 so well done on the PB  :).

The rest of the field, Maria Gent making the ladies trio finished on 02:14:44, and guest rider Alex Garner, producing the overall winning time of 01:53:35, concluded the 50m distance riders.

Ladies set a 50m team record

With a trio of KCC ladies attending this means that Sue, Bethany and Maria have secured another KCC team time record, setting a total combined time of 06:32:22 – Well done ladies.

25m distance

KCC riders, Sam Barker crossing the finish won this distance with 54:36, followed by Chris Old 56:37 and Marcus Buksh 01:04:54 who then went off to lead the club social ride to the Pig & Waffell in Grafton Underwood, another 30 miles, so well done Marcus.

In our start sheet, we welcomed guest riders Fabos Young (GFCS) who took the overall win on the 25 distance with 53:49. Dave Tuttle (GFCS) 54:17, Jamie Tuttle (GFCS) 57:14 a clsoe one with Danny Metheral (Velo Elite) 57:28. Stu Plows (OVC) 01:01:52.

Just a reminder our Thursday night event is the 9.4 course around Old, so come and join us.

Well done everyone. Thank you all for participating and making this a successful event for the organisers.
