The Cyclones Cause a Storm at Leighton Buzzard!
Torrential rain is obviously ideal weather for the Cyclones - Kettering CCs youth division, whose impressive form saw podium places in four of the races at round 4 of the cyclocross Central League at Leighton Buzzard.
Jake Bird continued to dominate the boys under 8's race with a fine win, another first place to go with his two seconds means he's currently clear leader in the league. The influence of Kettering hosting the Women's Tour was evident with both of the Cyclones female racers taking third place - with Amelia Cebak seeing off tough competition to finish third in the under 12's and Bethany Spencer recovering from a nasty tumble on a challenging camber to achieve a well earned third in the U14's. Joshua Brown broke the "team MK" domination ofthe boys U14's race to claim second place.
Ten young Cyclones and their coach raced with performances demonstrating their love of the challenging conditions. As well as the mud from the torrential rain the course featured bank climbs, cambers, a sand pit and tight corners. Rubn Hickman finished 12th in U10 boys. In the hotly contested u12 boys Dominic Bell (10th); Eddie Hennah (15th) and first timer Sam Lindsley (16th) enjoyed some friendly rivalry with Huw Wilson (5th) and Joel Ayears (13th) from Welland Valley CC WhizzKids. Fin Issac continues to improve in U14boys finishing well in 8th place. Charlie Stockham worked well to come in 8th in his first race in U16 boys.
And finally, Cyclones Coach Mark Evans improved his placing to secure a league top 15 place.
Kettering CC with the support of Prologis, are looking forward to hosting Central League CX round 9 races, on November 19th at Prologis Park in Kettering.
