11-09-16 Neville Holt Inter Club Hill Climb

The final race of the season is the inter-club hill climb challenge, between Kettering Cycling Club and Rockingham Forest Wheelers.
Current cup holders, KCC hosted the event this year and welcomed a strong contingent from RFW to the start line.
Although only approximately one mile long, and split into two efforts, the hill climb is a daunting prospect. Maximum effort is required from the first pedal stroke to the last, and pulling one's most painful race face over the finish line is obligatory.
After the pain was over riders anxiously waited, while the timekeeper counted up, to see who would claim the trophy.
KCC rider Bryan Guest set the fastest time with an impressive 4.08. RFW's Pete Bradshaw came in at 4.23, and third home was KCC's Mark Evans in 4.26.
Kettering's early strength could not continue, however. The opponents clawed back points through the order to win by 16 points. Congratulations to Rockingham Forest Wheelers.
Final scores (top 20 finishers) RFW 113 points, KCC 97 points.
