KCC Dual Route Sunday Social : Ideal new members

This week’s club ride takes us out in a loop out east and stopping at Woodford Mill.

Being the first Sunday of the month, we will have two groups, a steady ride 30 miles and a faster ride 50 miles with the plan to meet for coffee and a chat before we make our ways homeward. The two paces should mean we get to the cafe at the same time :). These dual route Sundays are an Ideal opportunity for new members to try out a club ride and meet fellow club members. Remember you need to sign up, and also remember to bring along a face mask for the cafe.

Please sign up for your preferred ride and we will look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 9.00.

Faster Ride 50m

The faster ride pace is approx 16-17mph average, the pace is set by the abilities of the riders, so join us as we have a no drop policy and we can split into groups to suit all.
Here’s the route, please download to your garmin/computer before Sunday,

Steady Ride 30m

Our steady ride pace is about 13-14mph average, we ride at the pace of the abilities of the group and no one gets dropped.
Here’s the route. Download to your garmin/computer before Sunday.

For anyone new to the club social rides, here’s what to expect:

KCC Sunday Social Club Ride, a social gathering of all abilities, for members to meet and cycle together.

All abilities are catered for, we currently have riders who are riding at 14mph average up to 18 mph average and we split into groups (6 in a group, also meeting Covid-19 guidelines). We regroup when meeting at the cafe, or predefined stops. It is also possible to publish a slightly longer loop that gives the faster group a slightly different route to the cafe so we aim to get there at the same time.

Using signup Genius and the comments you post when you sign up, allowing for the abilities, I’ll plan the route(s) 2-3 days before, allowing for the weather and wind direction – so hopefully we will have the wind behind us on the route back to Kettering.

The distance we do is around the 50 miles, this is again adjusted to suit the riders that are signed up, so we may do a bigger loop, and if we have new riders, we can accommodate with a shorter loop, the aim is for it to be a chance to catchup and natter, obviously riding safely.

If you are new to cycling and wish to join us, and you’ve not been riding with us before, we are a no drop policy and the slowest group will ride to the ability of that group, as we all have to start somewhere, and I remember bonking in my first rides… being kindly joined by an existing member of the KCC riders who joined me on my struggle homeward!

Here’s an outline of what to expect:

Venue
Starting point at Sainsbury’s bus stop on Rockingham Road at 9.00 am and will be out for about 4 hours.

Published route.
Route to be published 2-3 days before the ride and it will appear on the events page for that day.

Cafe stop
We will stop to refuel, at around 11am for coffee, tea or whatever your tipple is, along with cake…  and then return back to Kettering.

Making your way home
Many riders, living in villages in and around Kettering choose to peel off the route on the way back to Kettering and make their way home, if you do this, please let the group know so we are not waiting for you or think you have a puncture or got lost.

If you are unsure of anything, please send an email to Ian Bird, Club Run Secretary, email here and Ian will get back to you as soon as he can. Include your contact details, mobile and email.

We are seeing a fantastic show of orange jerseys which are making the photos very positive for the club and promoting the events, thank you so much and keep it up guys and girls.

As an participant in our club ride your information may be shared on the event or our club website, newsletter, social media pages or in emails sent by or on behalf of Kettering cycling club. When used, we may use your name and only shared in relation to your participation in the ride, for example tagged in photos and ride reports.
