A strong field

15 riders were on the start line for the first Lamport 10 mile TT of the season. Unlike for the same event last year when it was bitterly cold the weather was very pleasant although there was a bit of a head wind coming back from the Rothwell roundabout apparently.

Of the KCC riders Pete Campbell continued his good early season run of form coming home first in 24:54 on his TT bike while Mark Weathersby again impressed with 25:40 to come in second overall and fastest road bike. Completing the KCC podium was Dan Bates with 26:03 on his TT bike.

It was great to see Maria Gent and Natalie Sharp competing in the Ladies section. Maria took the honours with 28:37 while Natalie came in second on her first TT of the season with 34:02.

Lucas Buksh and Jake Bird were fighting each other to get to the finishing line first again with Lucas winning that battle and therefore taking just over a minute out of Jake on the road. 27:38 and 28:30 were their times and we look forward to seeing those come down as the season progresses.

The fastest ride of the evening went to guest rider Hudson Hendry of George Fox Cycling Solutions. Hudson, still a junior rider, crossed the line in 22:45 averaging just under 27 mph. Very impressive!

Well done to everybody who finished the TT. It was great to see the KCC members and our visiting guests and we’ll look forward to more good racing through the season.

Thanks to the volunteers

Helping out at the race were Caroline Larssson who did a great job at the start and finish and Scott Barber who took a week out of racing to marshal the Rothwell roundabout and take the photos you can see below when it was safe to do so.

Thank you to you both as we couldn’t have run the race without you.
